For the sake of my family, I’m taking a break from teaching until the new year. I am also planning on changing my teaching schedule in January to classes during the week instead of on the weekends in order to free up a family day on Saturdays. I work all day on Sundays at my other job so it has been difficult for us to find time together on the weekends. I will miss doing classes with all of your wonderful children this round! There are many other wonderful teachers in the area to check out!

For children ages 0 to 5 and caretaker, this basic class follows the recommendations of child development researchers, grouping children of a variety of ages in one class. This approach fosters natural, family-style learning where younger children enjoy watching and imitating older ones; older children learn by leading younger ones; and adults are happy because the children in the family can go to class together.

Each child participates at his or her own developmental level in singing, moving, chanting, listening, observing, or exploring musical instruments. We welcome the whole family to join in this important family music experience, and any caregiver—parents, grandparents, nanny—can bring the children to class.

Each semester includes:

  • 10 weekly 45-minute classes teaching a new song collection every fall, winter and spring.
  • New CDs each semester with the songs, rhythm chants, “play-alongs,” tonal and rhythm patterns used in class.
  • A song code for downloading the music digitally.
  • Access to the online Family Music Zone, which includes a variety of online and downloadable activities.
  • Beautifully illustrated songbook with family activities to enjoy at home.
  • Parent education resources.

Sample Class

The sample classes are an opportunity to catch a glimpse of what we would normally do in class on a weekly basis, hear a bit more about why the classes are structured the way they are, learn about the wonderful benefits of early childhood music, and ask any questions you might have. All are welcome to attend. Please register for the sample class so that I can have an idea of how many will be present. If you can’t make either option, I am perfectly willing to answer any questions by phone or email as well.

If you would prefer to pay for class by check (and avoid the paypal service charge to me), please go ahead and register through the link above and bring a check with you on the first day of class. Checks can be made out to “Stomping Ground Music Together”. Registering will save your spot in class. You only need to pay for the child, not for yourself. To make it more affordable for parents with more than one child, siblings receive a discounted rate of $135. If there are any questions about cost or payment, please send me a message.

Registration Cost

Classes are $185. That includes a CD, a downloadable song code to access the online Family Music Zone, and a songbook. I keep my costs lower than similar centers because I have less opportunities to offer for the sake of makeups for missed classes – Instead, I have chosen to offer 10 classes for the price of 9. Unfortunately, we do not allow people to do drop-ins because we want to establish community from the beginning of this class. The familiarity of caretakers and children is an important part of the learning experience.

Infant Siblings and Other Guests

Infant siblings under nine months may attend for free along with a registered participant. Parents, grandparents, and caregivers are always welcome.

Make-Up Classes

If for some reason a scheduled class needs to be cancelled, I will schedule a make-up class.

Health Policy

If your child is sick we ask that you please stay home from class and take care of them. In class we will make sure to keep the space, materials, and instruments clean and sanitized.

I don’t currently have scholarships to offer, but if the price is a concern or monetary assistance is needed in order to participate please let me know and we’ll try to make it work for you.
